How Yoga enhances Your Life easily with added Benefits

Most people have heard about Yoga, however do they know it is more than people performing contorted positions?

Yoga Means -
Yoga dates back thousands of years from India. Since Yoga deals with Universal Truths its teachings are as valid in the modern day as they were in ancient times. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "yuk" literally meaning yoke or to bind or to bring together; to unite - the word union is used to define Yoga. This union is further described as the union of the body and mind or on a deeper level the Self and the Universe and how everything is interconnected.

How Yoga enhances your daily life -
People usually think of Yoga as the various physical postures. When you begin to practice Yoga you start with what you know; the physical body. Yoga stretches the body; it also stretches your mind, your beliefs about yourself, your body and what you are capable of consciously as well unconsciously.

Hatha Yoga is a combination of the physical postures or exercise called asanas, breathing which is pranayama, relaxation which is savasana, proper diet, positive thinking and meditation.( Read more on five principles )

In Yoga the word practice is often used to describe your own personal experience with yoga, which evolves and changes as you connect and progress with yoga.

As you practice the postures, you start to notice a change in the body as it tones and sculpts into shape, increases in strength and flexibility, which is encouraging...Yes? You learn to breathe more efficiently and properly through breathing exercises, which releases new found energy. You also learn to relax deeply, allowing you time to heal and renew, which the body craves. When you learn to combine the physical postures, the breathing and the relaxation in a regular yoga practice, then the union of Yoga occurs, bringing a sense of balance and peace in the present moment.

Yoga helps stress -

The mind is restless thinking of the past and the future. A regular practice of yoga can teach you to cope better with daily stresses and strains of modern daily living - on a physical level as well as mental and spiritual levels too.

When you practice yoga, you learn to observe and listen to the body and mind; your awareness is bought back to the body as it is in the present and this brings the mind back to the present too - essential time for YOU. This helps stresses and worries fade away as you let go, even for a short moment. You carry this forth in your daily life by finding your centre in other areas of life, which helps you to cope better with the stresses and strains of a hectic life. In time and with more practice, being in the present and the beauty of stillness will last for longer in your yoga practice and this reflects in your life, as you take your yogic practice into your daily life enriching it. Then you may follow the other aspects of yoga. (Read more about Eight Limbs of Yoga ).

Yoga is about discovering your strengths, even your limitations and going beyond them, by learning to observe the body and mind and observing them without judgement, leaving you to feel comfortable with whom you are; thus balancing the body and mind.
